Introducing Robin, The Boy Wonder. Young Dick Grayson was orphaned when a small time hood sabotaged his parents' Circus trapeze act, Bruce Wayne took the lad under his wing. He eventually joined Batman in the fight against crime in Gotham as Robin. This was his debut in 1940.
Robin as he appeared in BATMAN #8 (December/January 1942).
In the second Batman movie serial in 1949 Robin was played by John Duncan. He was probably the buffest film Robin to date. This is a favorite photo of mine and that's not just because it's autographed to me.
In this 1952 comic, which featured the first teaming of Batman and Superman, Robin has the last laugh by getting a date with Lois Lane in the last frame.
Didn't seem like Robin had grown much by 1956.
In BATMAN #162 in March 1964 Robin earns a compliment.
From 1966 thru 1968 on TV's BATMAN, Robin and Dick Grayson were played by Burt Ward. "Holy website Batman!"

On the Filmation TV cartoon THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN, Robin and Dick Grayson were voiced by Casey Kasem.

On two 1972 episodes of the TV cartoon THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MOVIES, produced by Hanna-Barbera, Batman and Robin teamed with Scooby and the gang to battle The Joker and The Penguin. Robin was voiced, again, by Casey Kasem. Casey also did the voice of Shaggy and other characters on the shows. The episodes were entitled: The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair and The Caped Crusader Caper. Thanks to Joel Baxter.
In 1973, a Saturday morning cartoon called THE SUPERFRIENDS debuted, in which the traditional Justice League was tailored for the younger crowd. The team consisted of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman & Robin, Aquaman, and two kids Wendy and Marvin and their dog. Most of the stories contained morals and lessons for the kids. For the series, Robin's voice was provided by Casey Kasem.
In two 1978 TV specials produced by Hanna-Barbara: LEGENDS OF THE SUPERHEROES: THE CHALLENGE and LEGENDS OF THE SUPERHEROES: THE ROAST, a campy confrontation took place between the heroes and their arch-enemies. It is most notable for the fact that both Adam West and Burt Ward returned as Batman and Robin. Frank Gorshin also reprised his role from the 60's TV series as The Riddler. In one secene Robin even worries about telling Batman that he got into an accident in the Batmobile. "Holy bad acting!"
In this June 1983 issue of DC COMICS PRESENTS, Superman is teamed with The Elongated Man and Robin, The Teen Wonder.
In the comics Dick Grayson went out on his own and became Nightwing, and Batman took on a new protege Jason Todd. Robin #2
Dick Grayson became Nightwing in the comics. This was one of his early costume designs.
Various frames from the week of November 14 - 17, 1990 of the Syndicated newspaper comic BATMAN by Loebs, Cinfa and Nyberg. In this retelling Dick Grayson's Robin costume was actually given to him by his parents the night before they were killed as new wardrobe for their trapeze act. He used it to disguise himself to learn of their murder and rescue a wounded Batman.
Sunday December 23, 1990 newspaper strip of Batman by Loebs, Cinfa and Nyberg. In this retelling Dick Grayson's Robin costume was actually given to him by his parents the night before they were killed as new wardrobe for their trapeze act. He used it to disguise himself to learn of their murder and rescue a wounded Batman.
After Robin #2, Jason Todd, was murdered by The Joker, Batman eventually took on a third young trainee Tim Drake. Robin #3.
Starting in 1992 on TV's BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, later THE BATMAN ADVENTURES, the classic Batman was resurrected and Robin was once again Dick Grayson. At least for the first few years. He was voiced by Loren Lester.
Meanwhile, in the comic books Robin #3 (Tim Drake) got his own comic book.
On the TV cartoon and it's comic namesake Dick Grayson continued the reign as Robin, here with Batgirl. In this storyline the two were the same age and even attended college together.
Nightwing (Dick Grayson) came to his old friend Bruce's aid, when a power crazed Azreal, Jean-Paul Valley, (the new Batman) tried to destroy the old Batman (Bruce). Confused yet?
Brilliant artwork of Tim Drake's Robin, keeping watch over Gotham with another crimefighter of the night, The Huntress.
In the third Batman feature film BATMAN FOREVER, starring Val Kilmer as Batman, the character of Dick Grayson and Robin was introduced in the form of actor Chris O'Donnell. A little bit older than the comics' origin.
Dick Grayson still as Nightwing in 1995. Get a haircut would you?
Chris O'Donnell returned as Robin in the 4th Batman film BATMAN AND ROBIN, opposite George Clooney's Batman. His costume changed a little from his last outing and almost more resembled Nightwing's garb than Robin's.
The best Robin portrayal to date, in my opinion, is within the confines of Director, Writer, Producer and Star John Fiorella's film GRAYSON. Director and creator Fiorella has done the impossible... made the perfect screen incarnation of our DC heroes. Robin is played by the man himself, John Fiorella.
