Superman prepares to have his powers stripped away in a scene from SUPERMAN II (released in the U.K. in 1980 and in the U.S. in 1981).
In SUPERMAN III (1983), our hero freezes an entire lake to extinguish a chemical plant fire.
Clark hastily changes into Superman using an instant photo booth, not knowing that a little boy has deposited money into it. Upon exiting he finds 4 photos showing him changing into our hero. He tears off the bottom photo of Superman and gives it to the excited lad.
Superman does battle with The Nuclear Man in 1987's SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE in downtown Metropolis. Christopher Reeve was at his physical peak in this one.
Superman addresses the United Nations with a poignant and heartfelt speech in SUPERMAN IV (1987).
It's Jeremy's (Damian McLawhorn) request which touches Superman and causes him to make a decision of epic consequence in SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE. Here Superman, Jeremy and Jimmy (Marc McClure) talk in the lobby of the United Nations.
Gene Hackman was born to play Lex Luthor. Here Superman returns him to the prison rock yard at the end of SUPERMAN IV.
Borrowed from Christopher Reeve's outstanding 1998 book STILL ME, this is a favorite photo of mine, circa 1997. From left, Alexandra, Christopher, Matthew, Dana, and Will. Mr. Reeve is truly an inspiration.
After his first day at work with the Daily Planet, Clark and Lois are mugged in a nearby alley. This scene is from SUPERMAN THE MOVIE (1978).

Christopher Reeve makes the change from Clark to Superman in the alley outside The Daily Planet in SUPERMAN II. This sequence marks one of the best "changes" into The Man Of Steel ever filmed.
One of the original poster art designs for SUPERMAN (1978).
For my money, the poster art for SUPERMAN II was the best of any of the films. Here it is on the Original Soundtrack Album. This vinyl record was awesome, as it had multi-colored "S" logos etched onto the record.
The DVD cover for the long awaited 2001 release
Another poster style for the second Superman film, this one focusing on the Phantom Zone villains
The release of SUPERMAN II in Great Britain featured different poster art than the American release. It came out in theatres overseas in 1980 and in America in 1981.
The background of the original U.S. theatrical poster also featured this skyline shot. Subsequent video releases and the 2001 DVD release kept the skyline, a creepy forshadowing of the catastophic Sept. 11, 2001 events?
